The Department of Communication requires the Apple Laptop. We do not require software beyond the University baseline requirement, but specific software may be required for classes beyond the first year level. Students planning to do a double major should purchase a computer that also is compatible with the other department's specifications.
There are five packages available through the VT Bookstore that meet computer requirements for majors in Communication. The more basic packages are for students who plan a career in print journalism, the standard for careers in public relations or electronic journalism, and the high level for careers in film or video production.
