Eligibility and Process
Eligibility - To apply to change your major to Communication, you must have at least 30 overall hours before graduation. The University catalog states that "undergraduate students must be enrolled in their major(s) [and minor(s)] of choice prior to the beginning of their senior year, or by the time they have 30 semester hours to complete before their graduation".
Process
1. Attend an information session to learn more about the major and to begin the process.
2. Complete an application and graduation plan. Our majors typically take 2-3 COMM courses each semester
3. Submit a completed application and graduation plan to 130B Shanks Hall during the last week of classes.
4. Return to pick up change of major form from 130B Shanks Hall as directed to complete this process.
Advising
Once you're accepted to VT COMM, we'll work with you to use your transfer credits in the most beneficial way. We can help you plan minors, double majors or cognates you can be working toward along with your COMM major.
Meetings
Join us for an information session designed specifically for VT students in other majors who are considering applying to COMM. Applications will be furnished at the advertised meetings.
